Mohali Streets Canines

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Sep 14, 2011

The residents of Mohali are over running with stray canines. Authorities, meanwhile, have turned a blind eye to this menace as only 18 complaints in three months have made it to their complaint diary. Many of the residents reported saying that they are even scared to take a walk in the streets. Residents of Mohali are looking forward for the concerned authorities of Mohali to act to this at the earliest.

Manav Sehgal, a resident of Phase 3B2, said, “The last few months have seen a phenomenal rise in the number of stray dogs roaming around the residential areas and this has led to a large number of residents being fearful of venturing out unescorted. The problem is worsened by MC officials as despite repeated pleas they have simply turned a deaf ear towards our requests.”

Mohali deputy commissioner Varun Roojam said, “The dog bylaws were compiled and submitted to the state government almost a year-and-a-half ago, but as the government would have to enact the bylaws in the entire state, things got pushed onto the backburner. I agree that there is a requirement for strict measures to ensure residents’ safety and the issue would certainly be discussed in the next meeting.”
