More Parking Spaces in Coimbatore
Coimbatore will soon get more parking spaces after reeling so long with inadequate parking lots. This is a major cause concern for the people as it added upto the traffic woes of the commuters. To deal with this Coimbatore Corporation has come up with a novel idea to increase the parking spaces around commercial establishments as these areas are congested with scores of vehicles. The Corporation will convert the present parking space into multilevel parking spots in four areas in the city. Corporation officials have revealed that the structure will be four to five storied, the two lower levels will be to accommodate two-wheelers and the upper decks will be reserved for four wheelers.
The Corporation has already tagged four areas for the infrastructure namely Lakshmi Complex at Gandhipuram, Town Hall adjacent to Guru Hotel, the recently demolished old Fish Market complex in Ukkadam and in Corporation School in RS Puram. The project will be fully funded by the corporation through the Town and Country Planning Department. However officials have said that the details of the project are still under scrutiny.
