More sewage treatment plants to come up in Chennai

To curb additional sewage flow in Chennai city, Chennai Metrowater has planned to introduce three more sewage treatment plants around the city.

Currently, there are five plants at different locations which treats around 486 million litres a day (mld) of sewage.

The plants which are planned to be set up will be installed in Villivakkam, Porur and Sholinganallur.

The plant in Villivakkam will set up soon with a capacity of 120 mld and a detailed project report has been made for the same.

Porur and Sholinganallur plants will have capacities of 150 and 120 mld respectively.
