More trouble for Lavasa
The Lavasa project has ran into deeper trouble. The state government is planning to file against the project for flouting environmental norms in Mumbai. It will file the complaint at he judicial magistrate court in Pune. The petition will be heard at the Bombay high court. The state government has already given a deadline 2 weeks, which will end by Nov 10 this week.
Earlier the Ministry of environment has alleged that the Lavasa group which is constructing a 25,000-acre hill township near Pune has completely disregarded various environmental norms. They demanded an explanation as to why the construction should not be pulled down. These norms include construction above 1,000 meters from the sea level and construction without prior clearance from authorities over 20,000 square meters of land. In the recent turn of events the company will not be able to proceed with the construction of the second phase.
