MSRDC promises to complete S-shaped Flyover started in 2006
Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) started the construction of the S-shaped flyover in the year 2006 but, its cost escalated till now is around Rs 25 crore and by the end of November, 2011. BPO manager Rohan Pawar reported saying that there is a need for the commuters to wait for a long time at the Suman Nagar junction as it is traced to be the biggest bottleneck of traffic area in Mumbai. Navi Mumbai is unhindered taken over by the flyover traffic. The overpass is expected to clear the way for Thane-bound traffic to connect straight without encountering a signal or traffic jams at any of the junctions.
T Vishweshwar, a 57-year-old government employee reported saying that the road connecting Navi Mumbai and Bandra home, is flooded with heavy traffic jam near Suman Nagar and nearly 30 minutes of time is needed to travel midst the presence of worse traffic. However the flyover was promised to come up within years but nothing has happened in concern with the progress of the flyover. Here are some of the responses the Times of India readers have come up in concern with the flyover construction in Mumbai:
a. Construct a flyover. And ensure the work starts after the rains and continues non-stop.
b. The traffic police should regulate the signal cycle keeping jams in mind. The present system gives importance to vehicles coming from the direction of Chetana institute and the station.
However the motorists are suggested to use service roads to avoid traffic jams until the construction of flyover is ready for the commuters to be used.
