Mumbai Experiences Untimely Rainfall
As always Mumbai had to face the water logging problems after a heavy downpour recently. The city witnessed heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening in some parts of the city. Santa Cruz received as much as 57.8mm and this caused a lot of inconvenience to the areas near flyover. The rainfall also flooded the subways in places like Dadar, Maratha Mandir,Milan, Hindmata and Andheri.
The torrential rains also brought the traffic to a stand-still causing inconvenience to the commuters on the Western Express Highway, from Hanuman Road junction to Bahar Cinema in Vile Parle East. A large tree was also uprooted near Lilavati Hospital in Bandra west blocking the whole road. Meteorological had predicted much earlier the possibilities of more rainfall in the few regions. N Y Apte the deputy director general of India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported saying that the untimely showers is due to the unusual weather activities in Southern India.
