Mumbai denizens were in a festive mood midst the residents staying in the
high-rise apartments were suffering form phobia. The reason behind this was the fear of the
aerial crackers like rockets getting into their flats creating mess or also there are chances of it catching fire. Also there were many cases traced of fire mishaps in many high-rise buildings around the city. One of the senior fire official reported saying that they witnessed more than a dozen of
fire mishap cases in the city and they had to rush to all corners to rescue the
residents in the apartments.
These incidents were traced only from the apartment’s ninth floor in almost all the areas, he added.
The fire mishap cases due to aerial crackers were noted in the areas like; Raheja Complex near Film City at Malad, Gayatri Darshan at Thakur Complex, Prithvi Apartment at Altamount Road, Rustomjee Tower at Goregaon and many more. Nearly 75 fire engines and also water tanks were on service and the number of firemen exceeded more than 450, who came in rescue of the apartment residents. As it was a festive season and similar incidents were expected, the fire department were well prepared and were on a high alert in the city.
