Mumbai residents protest over pillar placement for monorail
Residents in apartment in Mumbai have been protesting over placement of pillars for the second phase of the monorail to come up at Sakaram Pawar Marg near Currey Road station.
The protests were on the face of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) who is also the implementing agency for the monorail.
The residents alleged that one of the pillars will work as an obstruction for the water trucks and in case of emergency, it would be difficult to rescue the vehicles.
MMRDA suggests that there would not be any problem to sway away residents’ fear and have decided to shift the pillar few metres away.
