Mumbai to campaign against Autos
Tit for tat seems to be the motto of auto commuters in Mumbai. The auto-drivers in the city has caused a lot of problems by calling indefinite strikes every now and then and of course the prudish behavior of the drivers is well known. Thus, to teach them a lesson the Mumbai Autorickshaw Commuter Association (MACA) has called in a campaign against autos. They are asking commuters to avoid commuting in autos this Sunday.
Mumbaikars have to constantly bear the burnt of these errant behaviour of the auto-drivers. Every now and then the auto drivers hold the city hostage by frequently calling strikes for one or another reasons. Mr Parmeshwar K R, founder of MACA has said they they are expecting huge turn out in support of the campaign as many citizens are harassed by the auto-drivers in Mumbai.
Auto-unions are however not animated by the proposed campaign. They are saying that their strikes were for a cause and because of somebody’s whim. They feel that such protests only will hamper the daily bread of the poor auto-drivers.
