New govt should give top priority to land acquisition
The biggest obstruction on the road to successful development of highway projects is the acquisition of land. According to the top official of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the government coming to power should make this issue their top priority in order to deal with it the right way.
The infrastructure projects are under the impression of being strongly pushed by the BJP led government led by Narendra Modi and his Cabinet Ministers who is about to take his official oath on the 26th of May 2014.
Under the models of BOT (build, own, operate) and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), about 7,000 kilometres worth of road projects are to be established during the year of 2014-15. This is according to the targets set by the current ministry.
By the end of this period, about 2000 kilometres worth of road project will be established by the same ministry who had decided to establish 9,000 kilometres worth of road projects last year (2013-2014).
The ministry has further planned to ensure the electronic payment of toll all over the country in over 300 toll plazas. The Electronic Toll Collection system or the ETC works towards the collection of tolls all over the world ensures the electronic payment of highway tolls. Without allowing any interference of human body, it successfully processes all financial transactions at toll plazas.
This popular mode enables all citizens to pay their taxes without any hassle. There is no need for them to stop at the polls. Easing all kinds of traffic at the highways and reduction of the commuting time is their top priority.
