New housing policy in Kerala
The Kerala state government is all set and ready to proclaim the new housing policy for encouraging construction of rental residential buildings in the state. Experts says that the state government will amend both the Apartment Ownership Act as well as Kerala Buildings Lease and Rent Control Act of 1965 to eradicate illegal property transactions.
The 12th five year plan has initiated construction of around 12 lakh houses with the estimated budget of Rs. 15,000 crore as per the orders passed by the state cabinet.
The new housing policy also aims to construct nearly 7.2 lakh houses for weaker sections, economically backward communities, SC-ST’s, traditional workers, fishermen and to the poor. The policy has also promised the weaker sections to provide other such provisions like; education, transport, electricity, drinking water and other infrastructural facilities.
