No more Power-cuts in Pune

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Oct 24, 2011

Pune city will finally get relief from the load-shedding. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahadiscom) chief engineer (Pune zone) Mr S.P Nagtilak had announced that the power stations have received an additional amount of power from the central feeder. The move will hopefully provide enough power supply during this festive season. The power generation in the country has been affected because of flash strike by Coal India workers and the Telangana agitation. The decline in the coal supply due to the agitations had also affected the power generation in the country.

Officials at Mahadiscom has said that Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune and cities fall in the A1 category. The category is based on the basis of distribution losses. This means that load-shedding in these areas will be implemented in these areas only in extreme cases. Residents in these parts have seen drastic improvement in the power supply in the last few days. In fact power-cuts were experienced only on Thursday in some parts of the city due to repairs and maintenance work. However there has been an increase in the power-cuts in other parts of the state.
