No More Power cuts in Pune
The residents in Pune can finally get respite from power cuts as the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd ( MSEDCL) has got an additional 300 MW power from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco). The add-on will increase the total generation of power upto 4,300 MW. An official at the MSEDCL had said that if the power supply is good, there will be a ephemeral relief from the power cuts.
Officials revealed that the acute shortage of the power supply is due to the Telengana agitation in Andhra Pradesh which has led to disruption of coal supply to the thermal power plants. The region has a shortage of nearly 2,000 MW of power. Recently the MSEDCL bought an additional 350 MW of which 200 MW came from Mahagenco and 150 MW was contributed by Jindal South-West (JSW)Energy .
