North and South Corporation quarrel over property tax revenue
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has released almost Rs 120 crore to the South corporation after the North corporation attached its banks account following non-payment of property tax dues.
The duo corporation is going through loggerheads over revenue earned from property tax since long. Now north corporation wants its share in the amount released by DDA.
Around Rs 478 crore as property tax DDA owes as property tax dues to South Corporation of which Rs 120 crore has been released.
According to a senior official of South Corporation, the attachment order was issued by South Corporation and also that the land owning agency has made the payment against the order issued by our corporation. The corporation have taken very strict action against the tax defaulters already and the DDA is one of the biggest defaulters. It’s after the action is taken only DDA has agreed to clear all the property tax dues.
According to the sources, DDA owed close to Rs 740 crore to the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Delhi including interest and now North Corporation claims that the attachment notice was issued against the total outstanding amount which includes properties in all three corporations.
