Now door-to-door garbage collection in Pune
The Residents of Pune can soon avail the service of door-to-door garbage collection that is started by the authorities. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has said that it will soon launch the service to the convenience of the citizens. It will also carry the services in the Kasarwadi-Bhosari areas. Bharat Vikas Group (BVG) India Ltd has been assigned with the task for the two zones. The two zones will cover an area 99 square kilometer. The total population in the area is somewhere around eight lakhs. The area generates around 300 tonnes of wastes daily.
Officials at the PCMC have said that they will provide the contractor 145 hopper rickshaws under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for garbage collection. They also said that if needed the contractors may have to procure more such vehicles if required.
