Now Half the Time for Converting Leased Properties into Freehold
Delhi Developement Authority (DDA) have now promised it will take half the time what it used to take before for processing of applications for conversion of properties from leasehold to freehold. The process of conversion has been divided into various stages to expedite it. An application for conversion has to go through various levels for a clearance.
Now, the conversion will be completed within 45 days, whereas earlier, it used to take about 90 days. DDA has prepared an elaborate work flow chart allotting specific number of days to each department that is concerned with the conversion process. We have to check if there are any legal hassles or any financial dues pending on the property,” saidss a DDA official. He also said that all pending applications have been processed and the change has already come into effect.
Owners will just need to apply with all the necessary documents followed by payment of conversion charges. DDA assures that the application will be taken up by the concerned department within two working days. Applicants will be informed about any missing documents in next five days. They will have a week to reply. Final scrutiny of documents will take another week before the file is referred to the accounts department. Individual departments will be held responsible if the entire process is not completed within 45 working days.
