Objections to proposed increase in tariff
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has proposed to increase the tariff by 75 paise per unit across the board for the 2011-12 fiscal under the multi-year tariff scheme. According to source, the ERC (expected revenue from charges) has been projected at Rs. 7,251 crore, while the projected expenditure is Rs. 8,863 crore.
Members of the Consumer Care Society and CIVIC (Citizens’ Voluntary Initiative for the City) presented their objections to the proposed increase in the tariff at a round-table discussion. With November 4 being the deadline to file objections, the round-table discussion was organized to finalize comments and objections to the proposal.
