Organizers of Apartment Pujas in Kolkata to make Celebrations Unique

No Comments Sub Category:Awareness,Community Posted On: Sep 19, 2011

In Kolkata, it is at these pujas that one gets to witness the true spirit, the bonhomie and bonding that seem to have gradually eroded in society. In only a few of the big-budget community pujas does one get to see the participation of women. In most apartment pujas, women play a major role. So do children. Over the last 10 years, The Times of India Pujo Barir Shera Pujo judges have seen how people from several cultural and religious backgrounds get together to celebrate Durga Puja at their apartments.

Not only are the big community pujas coming up with new themes, even organizers of apartment pujas in Kolkata are thinking of ways to make the celebrations unique. Many of them are even keeping their plans under wrap. What if the housing complex next door steals the idea? It is this community participation that The Times of India Pujo Barir Shera Pujo is on the lookout of. When judging a puja, it is checked whether the evening programs are being performed by residents, whether women turn up early in the morning to arrange the bhog and other preparations associated with the puja and whether the decoration in the pandal has been undertaken by the children.

Whereas in the case of Ekta Heights in Jadavpur that has 242 flats, Durga Puja in this apartment is in its fifth year and for the first time, organizers have decided to get the idol made within the complex itself. This time, The Times of India Pujo Barir Shera Pujo 2011 will be presented by State Bank of India in association with National Insurance Co. Ltd & Concast, powered by Aircel and supported by Sun-kwik Home Appliances. The outdoor partner is Enkon.
