Panaji on High Alert in Waste Management

1 Comment Sub Category:Awareness,Community Posted On: Sep 24, 2011

The citizens of Panaji in Goa are on high alert in managing the waste segregated and also this drive is gaining attention in villages nearby also.  Few of the villagers in Merces have come to a decision to have a clean check over the non-biodegradable waste in their respective areas. The waste which is collected in the village is said to be dumped in the bag and placed at the Panchayat collection center. The government will appoint a contractor to maintain all the garbage collection in these villages.

One of the sources from the municipal wing reported saying that the people who generate garbage should also segregate waste and also informed the villagers not to mix the wet and dry waste as the waste collectors would find it difficult to complete the operation. All the residents who stay in apartments, Bungalows and even offices are requested to store their plastic waste in separate containers and then dump it only in the places allotted for them or hand it over to the waste collectors.
