PCMC Pune gets tough with illegal constructions
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been getting tough on illegal buildings in the city.
The civic body has disconnected all water connections of illegal constructions in the city. Also, the authority has been serving notices to the residents who occupy such buildings.
Due to the tough decision taken by the authority, an argument between elected representatives got raised.
A corporator from Talawade village alleged that the civic body is sending notices through the police force to the people who occupy such buildings.
The same corporator asked for a relief of two weeks which was also seconded by another corporator. Some corporators were not even given a chance to speak on the topic. A ruling party leader decided that there will be no discussion about unauthorized constructions.
However, some corporators opposed the ruling party leader’s call and said they’ll be allowed to speak in the general body.
They believe that the civic authority be bit sympathetic towards the poor people who have built small houses for themselves though without permission.
Currently, PCMC is demolishing illegal properties in Pune which are built after 1st of April, 2012 and are not occupied by anyone.
But in cases where such constructions are built after April 1, 2012 and have been occupied then the civic body is sending notices to the people directing them to vacate the premises so that it can be demolished and they do not suffer any damages.
Furthermore, it has been added that Pimpri Chinchwad is different from cities like Pune and it has been ordered by high court to clear off unauthorized constructions in its municipal limits.
