No Comments Sub Category:Community Posted On: Nov 01, 2010

Permission for bar in a residential area upsets Bandra residents. Fed up of revellers’ drunken brawls, noise and snarls, a section of residents had launched a protest drive against nightclubs in residential areas. The cops’ sanction has added zing to the residents’ campaign against nightclubs in residential areas. According to source, The Royalty run by actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra in partnership with Prashant Gunjalkar. The Royalty is located in the heart of Bandra (W) on Waterfield Road-a predominantly residential area.

According to police officals, The Royalty is neither a nightclub nor a discotheque but a bar. The police have granted permission for a bar and permit room. But the residents says that it has now reapplied under bar and permit room instead of their earlier request to have a lounge and a bristo.

Earlier this year, members of Revival Citizen’s Group, along with various Advanced Locality Managements (ALMs) from Bandra (W), had knocked on the state home minister RR Patil’s door with their complaints about mushrooming of nightclubs in residential areas. Patil had then directed the social securities branch to inquire into the matter.

RWA to file a PIL on behalf of residents and demand special zones for clubs in Bandra.
