PM may launch infra projects in Maharashtra before assembly elections
Before the announcement of the assembly election dates in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will apparently make at least two visits to the state, for launching of infrastructure projects.
According to the details shared by unidentified sources aware of the PM’s Maharashtra visits, PM’s first visit – most likely scheduled for next week – will be to Solapur; while the second will be to Nagpur, probably later this month.
As per the sources, a programme with regard to the PM’s visits has been finalized by the National Highways Authority of India. The PM will lay the foundation stones for two highway projects in Solapur — the first one between Solapur-Maharashtra Karnataka border of NH-9; and the second one between Solapur and Yedshi.
About the contract agreements for widening of the two mentioned highway stretches in Solapur, the sources said that the requisite contracts have already been signed.
In connection with the projects apparently to be launched by the PM in Nagpur, officials said the projects for which foundation stones can be laid by the PM are being identified by the Road Transport and Highways Ministry. Though some previous sources had indicated that the PM may launch the Nagpur Metro project, sources now say that it would be too premature, given the current status of the Metro.
