PMC receives Rs 631 cr from building permissions allotment
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently received a record breaking revenue from the allotment of building permissions in the financial year 2012-13.
The building permissions department of the civic body has received around Rs 631 crore as fees for construction including development charges.
The high revenue received has been so due to the revision of rates in granting building permission in the past.
As per civic officials, the particular department has witnessed a hike in revenue in the past three years from development charges, compounding fees, FSI, balcony premium and other such fees.
The head of the building permissions department has alleged that the revenue hike can be due to reforms and better systemic coordination.
A target of Rs 600 crore was set in the last financial year and an approximately Rs 30 crore more has been achieved.
The auto development control rules which is the system that is used to provide building permissions has been upgraded. The number of no-objection certificates (NOCs) required has been reduced to speed up allotment.
If data has to be believed, then the number of permissions given has declined as against last fiscal year.
Also, the total area of construction of properties in Pune has gone down by 8 lakh sq metres which was 74 lakh sq metres in 2011-12, which reduced to 66 lakh sq metres in 2012-13.
