Power Consumers in Mumbai to Pay More
The residential consumers who have single-phase connection and also consumers who consume 500 units and more per month will have to end up paying a marginal amount of Rs. 0.03 extra in suburban Mumbai. Non-domestic, commercial, industrial, temporary and advertising power consumers in Mumbai and Maharashtra who have switched suppliers will have to pay more for electricity.
The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) on Friday announced a cross-subsidy surcharge (CSS) to be levied on commercial consumers of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), Reliance Infrastructure Distribution (RInfra-D) and Tata Power Company Distribution (TPC-D).
High-tension (HT) category consumers who plan to opt for open access power supply, the surcharge would vary from Rs 0.21 to Rs 3.97 per unit. Similarly, for RInfra-D’s HT consumers who have switched over to TPC, the surcharge will vary from Rs 0.26 to Rs 2.79 per unit.
