Property tax rebate scheme extended in Ahmedabad

Initially the time period of this rebate scheme was up to one month i.e from January 1, 2013 to January 31, 2013. During this period around 46,000 owners came forward and paid their property tax dues which resulted in collection of Rs 38 crore. Thus, the total collection till date amounts to be Rs 405 crore.
This rebate scheme to pay property tax will allow 100 percent rebate on the interest amount to the defaulter if the property is a slum and for other properties in Ahmedabad, defaulters will get 50 percent rebate.
During the standing committee meeting, a proposal to renovate Tagore hall was also accepted. Around Rs 9.75 crore will be spent for the renovation and beautification of the hall by PC Snehal Constructions.
This meeting also discussed upon Town Planning (TP) schemes to include 40 percent land deduction in the green-belt area. For the time being, this proposal has been postponed for next committee meeting. Earlier it was proposed to deduct only 50 percent of land but now the government is thinking the other way.
Thus many objections were also raised by the opposition party for raising this agenda so late. Many examples of areas like Ambawadi, Vasna, Sabarmati, Nava Vadaj and Naranpura were stated where construction activity has been increased in last one year. This in turn will create problems for AMC to announce such areas as green built area.
