Protest against amendment of Urban Areas Act
Resident Welfare Associations ( RWAs) of Gurgaon protest against the amendment of Urban Areas Act which will allow builders to obtain partial completion certificate.Protesting the amendment in the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975, Resident Welfare Associations submitted a memorandum to Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia. TheĀ governor assured the residents that he will consider their concerns.
The new bill will allow builders to obtain partial completion certificate. The partial completion certificates would enable the builders to take maintenance charges without completing the required work or providing mandatory facilities.
Residents claimed that the government has not taken cognizance of the heavy losses the bill will cause to the state exchequer. A PIL has been filed in the apex court on the issue and the government should have waited for the final order before making the amendment, claimed the members. The residents also demanded that the Act be withdrawn.
