Protest against shop rental rate hike
The shop owners at Mapusa in Goa are heading forward for a protest in concern with shop rental rate hike at the municipal market.
In general 10 percent hike in rental rates every year is a rule followed up. However, this mandatory rental hike is leaving these small merchants or shop owners in Goa municipal market nowhere!
To run a daily business is a toughest task for these small shop owners. The association president Yeshwant Gaondalkar has promised to take forward this issue in front of next council meeting in order to bring in justice to the Mapusa merchants.
Initially, Rs 50 per sqaure metre was collected as rental fee, however now it has been increased to Rs 78 per square metre. This has been a steep rental hike for these commercial vendors who run business in small scale.
