metroGurgaon- The skywalk which connects the existing Delhi Metro station along with the Rapid Metro at Sikanderpur is expected to be completed within a month. The walkway measures about 100 metre and will connect itself to both the stations at the platform level.

The completion of this walkway will help in seamless movement of the commuters from both the networks. However, the commercial operation of the Rapid Metro will start by mid-April.

As per a Rapid Metro official, the commuters can interchange the network using the elevated walkway in just less than a minute. The walkway will be connected to the paid area of the Delhi Metro and to the paid area of the station. It is mandatory that a person should have a valid ticket in order to use the walkway. Calculations state that a person can reach from one station to another in less than 45 seconds.

The official also said that the average width of the walkway will be nine metres and it will have an elevator, an escalator and a stairway on both the ends. One arm of the walkway is expected to stretch till 5.5 metres under the present viaduct of the Delhi metro. The skywalk will be completely covered to protect the commuters from extreme weather.

It has been made even easier as the twin ticketing system will help a commuter to pay just once and use both the networks. The same ticket can be further used to travel in the Delhi metro network and save the commuters time from standing in the queues to buy tickets as they can swipe the smart card or the token to travel in the train.
