Delhi Airport Metro back on track
To bring in relief for commuters, after being closed for six months, the Reliance Infrastructure-run Delhi Airport Metro Express has reopened on Tuesday.
As an inaugural day offer, passengers were charged at a flat rate of Rs 30.
Earlier, the metro was running at a speed of 105 km/ph and is now reduced drastically to 50 km/ph. However, the speed will increase gradually after periodic inspection by the Delhi Metro.
The timing of the metro rail is from 5.30 am to 11.30 pm with a 15 min frequency and also with the connectivity from terminal 1 to Aerocity Station through shared cab and shuttle bus services. The recent fare for the Delhi Metro rail is minimum of Rs 20 to maximum of Rs 100.
The metro was shut down as there was a repairing work going on in the civil structure. The metro started running after an inspection done by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner.
The speed is expected to increase gradually as trains used to run on the corridor with a speed of 105 km/ph when the line was shut on July 8 2012.
The problem of the metro rail was noticed in the clippings used in the underground section of the corridor and after the repair work, it is believed that the train speed can be increased.
