Recommendations to use illegal colonies in Delhi
In a move to what can bring smiles to people living in illegal colonies. A three-member GoM, headed by Public Works Department, Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan- have recommended the Delhi Government to allow the sale and purchase of properties in the unauthorized colonies which had come up on private land. Recommendations were also made to suggest development measures in unauthorized colonies which were issued provisional regularization certificates. They have also suggested that houses with structural safety certificate should not be targeted by the task forces set up to check illegal construction.
They have also recommended that construction activities in these colonies should be legalized, provided there is approval from the agency concerned.The government had frozen construction in 1,639 colonies after they were given provisional regularization certificates in 2008. It is in the process of regularizing these colonies. The recent events may also be because of the polls in close proximity.
