Residents hit by irregular water supply
Residents in Coimbatore- Tamil Nadu hit by irregular water supply. The Residential areas of Peelamedu, Singanallur, Ramanathapuram were forced to wait 10-15 days for their supply of water. Flow of water also was low in Saibaba Colony and Gandhipuram during the last two days.
While the major residential areas of Saibaba Colony, R.S. Puram, Race Course and Gandhipuram have remained unaffected and continued to receive drinking water supply on alternate days, other areas of the city were forced to wait 10-15 days for their supply of water. Several parts of the city have been hit by delay in drinking water supply during the last two weeks.
According to the residents, the delay in supply has anguished them more so as they were unaware of the reason and did not know when supply would be regularized. Unlike the Siruvani Water supply scheme, what caused more agony to the residents of beneficial areas were the frequent leaks, breaches and bursts in the main supply line and the shut down resorted to by officials for maintenance work.
Last week, residents went through an agonising experience because of the shut down resorted to by officials for linking the Pilloor first phase line with the Pilloor second phase line for augmenting the supply to the city.
