Residents in Chennai inquiring about Burglar Systems and CCTV’s
Residents of Chennai at Kodandaraman Koil Street, West Mambalam, are inquiring about burglar systems and Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV). At least two have sold their houses and moved out – primarily because the police have not arrested anyone and seem to have no clue about the identity of the killers of Kamatchi (72) and Jayalakshmi (75). Cases of chain snatching and robbery have been reported from the area in the recent past. To top it, vandals terrorized a family and tried to break into their house on Wednesday and Friday nights, leaving the family closeted inside their house in fear. “Most of us have stopped wearing jewellery and have deposited them with cash in bank lockers,” said V Srividya, a homemaker and a member of the family that was terrorized.
One of the residents residing in Chennai residential areas recounts the events on Wednesday and Friday with horror. “We heard loud thuds of a man jumping on the roof of our house. In our area, the houses are backed up close to each other, so thieves can easily hop across to other houses and flee,” said R Sundararajan, who is a retired employee of C. The thieves left a knife at their doorstep.” The residents are hoping that burglar alarms and closed circuit television cameras will deter burglars. They are also urging for a police booth on the street since the station is located more than 2km away.
