Residents of DLF Gurgaon affected due to Water Pipeline Breach
Water pipeline breach near Shankar Chowk caused inconvenience to Residents of DLF Phase II Gurgaon. The water is supplied in DLF Phase II, DLF Phase III, National Media Centre, Ambience Islands and the offices around Shankar Chowk for an hour in the morning and evening on a daily basis which was not supplied on Tuesday because of the damaged pipeline. The DLF blocks had to depend on water tankers by the end of the day.
RR Rathee, councillor of Ward Number 34, said that the DLF phase II and III were the worst affected. Sidhu Biswas, a resident, said, “The water pressure in the pipelines is very low in this area. So, you can’t blame the pressure for the breach. It may have happened because of the ongoing Rapid Metro construction work in the area. The residents had to manage with the help of private tankers.”
As the incident took place early in the morning, the water supply got affected in the surrounding residential colonies. HUDA officials claimed that the pipeline was damaged because of the internal water pressure and that it was rectified in time. The residents, however, allege that there was reduced water supply in the morning hours.
Meanwhile, RD Singh, SDO, HUDA, who was deputed at the site said, “The water supply was back to normal by evening and there was no inconvenience casued as such. The reason for the breach was the internal pressure in the water pipeline.”Residents alleged that water was not supplied in the evenings because the officials told them that the water pipeline breach work was on and that some time would be needed to rectify the breaches.
