Residents of Mumbai fed up with Auto Strike
Residents in Mira Road and Bhayander in Mumbai were left helpless as the auto rickshaw drivers had called a strike to protest against the alleged behavior of the Mumbai city traffic police. The strike was called off recently after a meeting that was held between traffic police and the representatives of auto rickshaw unions. The strike was directed after auto drivers alleged facing harassment in the hands of the traffic police and Thane Road Transport Office (RTO) recently.
Nearly 506 auto drivers were penalized by the cops of their violations acts which included meter tampering and on behalf of the refusal to oblige the perfect meter system. Residents and the commuters in Mumbai city faced a tough time commuting around the city. The Mumbai police had come to the rescue of the citizens providing police vans for the transportation in order to promote convenience to senior citizens and also people with disabilities.
