Residents of Pune protested against 24 hours disrupted Power Supply
The residents of housing societies on NIBM Road and Salunkhe Vihar in Pune had to resort to a march to protest the delay in the restoration works by Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) after power supply was disrupted for 24 hours continuously. Disruption in power supply also led to water crisis as the water pumps could not run. Torrential rains uprooted nearly 40 trees in NIBM Road, Salunkhe Vihar and Kondhwa which damaged electricity poles, also many conductors and electricity feeders of individual housing societies had gone under water which forced MSEB to cut off the power supply to avoid accidents.
The inability of the board officials to cope with the crisis earned the anger of the residents despite repeatedly calling to the helpline. Many remarked that this was not the first time the MSEB had failed to cope at the time of crisis. The official spokesperson of MSEB had earlier claimed that the entire team of the MSEB set to work immediately however the magnitude of the problem was very deep and encompassed a vast area.
