Residents of Suncity Apartments launched Signature campaign against the builder.
Residents of Suncity Apartments and members of the Suncity Apartments Owner’s Association (SAOA) launched a signature campaign against the builder last Saturday. President of the SAOA, AK Singh spoke on the various unfulfilled promises by the builder. He said, “We have been sending letters to the builder regarding our problems but haven’t received any reply against it.”
Suncity Apartment is one of the biggest apartment complexes of Bangalore. It is located on Sarjapur Road, Bangalore. The apartment complex has more than 1200 apartment units and has been developed by Corporate Leisure Property Developers (CLPD).
According to the residents, the builder has allegedly not handed over the maintenance of the apartment to SAOA. The residents had paid a sum of Rs 1 lakh each towards maintenance at the time of purchasing the flat. This was added in the corpus fund created for such purpose. Besides, the complex has witnessed a lot of other problems and thefts.
There is no security check here. Once one person got stuck in the lift and there was no security to help. It’s been six years and our basic demands are not fulfilled,” said Saroj Ghosh, a resident.
Mathivanan S, a businessman and director of security, Suncity Apartment Owners’ Association (SAOA), said, “The security system in our apartment is horrible. The security personnel in each block do not check movement of people in the block. The boundary wall does not serve the purpose because it not closed from all sides. Anybody can walk in and out.”
And adding to the trouble, Block 6 is being commercialized. “The builder has started some construction at the ground floor of Block 6. This is being done without consulting the owners and residents,” said a resident.
Over 360 residents gathered at the apartment premises and signed a copy of demands.Their demands included-
- Corporate Leisure & Property Developments Pvt Ltd (CLPD) has not handed over the maintenance and ownership of common areas and amenities to SAOA.
- Stop immediately further commercialization of Suncity.
- Various amenities promised by CLPD have not been developed and delivered to Suncity residents even after 7 years.
- CLPD to consult SAOA. Incorporate its inputs in revamping the pathetic security network in place now.
- Any contract renewal of security provider must be done in accordance with SAOA needs and requirements for all 20 blocks.
- Recognize SAOA as the sole owners and residents association for Suncity and involve them in all decision-making pertaining to Suncity.
- Handing over the maintenance and running of Suncity to the owners/ association within two months.
