Residents oppose NPR project construction by HUDA
Gurgaon- HUDA’s decision of starting construction in the stretch of Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) project close to New Palam Vihar in Gurgaon has annoyed the residents of New Palam Vihar colony.
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has been given a deadline of March-end to complete the project. The project completion in all stretches is highly important and HUDA has planned to clear all the obstacles coming its way, said senior HUDA officials. Gurgaon police has been helping the authority in this regard. As per the tentative plans, HUDA officials, accompanied by police personnel, would start a demolition drive next week.
The project is crucial for the betterment of road connectivity between Gurgaon and Dwarka. The 150-metre-wide roads will connect Dwarka and Kherki Dhaula on NH-8. The one-kilometre stretch near New Palam Vihar seems to be the biggest obstacle for HUDA.
HUDA has planned to go with huge police force for the demolition drive near New Palam Vihar colony. The request for sending adequate number of police officers has also been accepted, said HUDA officials.
The officials have teamed up and the details of structures to be cleared has been kept ready for the drive. Permissions have also been sought for clearing illegal constructions. Over 300 house owners in New Palam vihar colony had taken a stay from Delhi high court to stop the NPR work.
Now the HUDA has listed out only the plots, houses and structures, which have not been covered in the court’s stay. The residents are also not allowing any work on those plots too. Allowing HUDA to work in the colony will make the life difficult for residents, claimed one of the colony residents.
However, HUDA officials are eager to start work on the vacant plots which are not covered by the court orders.
