Residents refuse penalty hike in Mumbai
The Hillside Residents Welfare Association (HIRWA) in Mumbai city are denying the recent 50 percent penalty hike.
The residents belonging to the housing societies on the private forest land have also denied the payment of additional charges.
The state revenue and forest department have demanded additional penalty in concern with regularizing homes.
This is considered as the final judgment as the penalty hike was finalized by a committee set up by the Supreme Court.
However, residents and the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) are refusing the payment as they feel that the demand is unjustified.
