Road digging by MCG causes problem to public
Residents are upset with the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) as many colonies across the city have been dug up for laying master sewerage line by the corporation.
Due to this, the residents are not only finding it hard to commute on the roads, but the missing barricading poses danger to humans as well as animals.
According to residents, the roads have been dug up for a month now and the work still remains incomplete. They also said the MCG authorities are not even bothered to ensure that these pits are barricaded and there are no warning signs near the dug-up sites indicating danger. The residents want the authorities to take stringent action against the officials concerned for their irresponsibility.
The affected areas include Laxman Vihar, Krishna Colony, Jyoti Park, Sector 7, 4-8 Marla and New Colony in Gurgaon among others.
Seema Pahuja, councillor for Ward 11, said that people may have to face some inconvenience if the development works take place. Further, the councillor said she had instructed the contractors to complete the work at one place before starting work at another location.
Another councillor said that non-availability of MCG officials is the main problem in getting the work done. Added to it, shortage of engineers and contractors ignoring the authorities’ orders are other issues.
However, the MCG authorities have promised to barricade the areas soon as possible.
