Road Repair Plan by HUDA Gurgaon
Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to get roads of better quality at several locations. Officials said that about 26km of city roads would be covered under this initiative. The special repair design is aimed at the roads’ longevity as it would include their maintenance for five years, which will be part of the tender document.
The designs are being prepared at an approximate cost of Rs 5-6 lakh and the approval of a few of the roads is expected to come in the next few months. Once the designing is complete, the department would prepare the estimates of the projects and subsequently tenders would be floated.
At present, city roads are built on cash contract and the private developers are not accountable once they exit from the project after settling their dues. Sources said though there had been similar thoughts to make master roads better in the city, the plan did not take off since the “maintenance” clause will escalate the per-km construction cost.
