RWAs and Experts offered Solutions to many Civic Woes
Bangalore city’s RWAs and urban experts took part in an interactive session organized by Namma Bengaluru Foundation here on Saturday.The experts panel comprising ABIDe member Ashwin Mahesh, Solid Waste Management Round Table member Meenakshi Bharat and Champion of Gandhigiri protest (Sachidanand Nagar RWA) Shankar Prasad discussed various civic issues of the city right from garbage woes to lack of fire safety.
Representatives of Kuvempunagar, Panduranganagar, Malleshwaram, HAL II Stage, Hanumanthappa Layout, Ramamurthy Nagar and Koramangala Residents Welfare Association took part.
The experts offered different solutions to many civic woes. According Shankar Prasad, people will soon demand the Sampoorna Governance package that he developed over the decade as a measure to check corruption. The proposed Bangalore Metro Regional Governance act can involve every citizen as an active stakeholder in the development of one’s neighbourhood, said Ashwin Mahesh. Dr Meenakshi Bharat stressed upon the necessity to take up solid waste management practices to beautify the city.
Remembering lives lost in the Carlton Tower’s fire tragedy, Uday Vijayan threw some light on the abrupt measures taken by the government to check on fire prevention in the city and how citizens should demand stringent action against the existing fire-safety violations in the city.
