Sanitary needs in Mumbai to be looked upon Seriously

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Oct 21, 2011

Recently the standing committee members of both Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and the Congress-led opposition in Mumbai censured each other in the matter of providing adequate toilet facilities for the people living in slum areas. The two parties hurled mud at each other to label charges that failure to ensure that slum-dwellers have proper toilet amenities. After fierce accusations and denials the Shiv Sena-BJP finally agreed to the latter’s bid to build 261 new blocks of toilet with 4000 seats across the slums of Mumbai. The project will be undertaken under the MUMBAI Sewage Disposal Project.

While Rahul Patel, the corporator of Sena had told that the party has actually done more in their tenure, the members of the Congress-led opposition alleged that the negligence of the party towards the slum dwellers reflects its half-heartedness towards ensuring proper civic amenities to all. They further remarked that even with the move the ratio of the toilets in lieu of the inhabitants is quite insufficient.

As the Mumbai civic elections are round the corner the issue is likely to be a major trump card for the parties in their campaign.
