Singapore to help Delhi in recycling waste water
Delhi Jal Board and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise will be signing an agreement on Wednesday for treatment of sewage water for drinking purposes at the Coronation Pillar sewage treatment plant.
Singapore-based Temasek Foundation will be funding 70 per cent of the total project cost.
A water restoration plant will be built, which has a capacity of 40 million gallons per day, at the Coronation Pillar plant, DJB officials said. An official said the DJB hopes that the project will be completed in the next four years.
Three to four million people will be benefited from the project. This project will help Delhi to become self-reliant, said an official.
Since the water is recycled from sewage, there might be hesitation from the people from using the water and that mindset has to be changed, said sources.
