Slow construction at Buddha Park may affect tourism

No Comments Sub Category:Awareness,Community,Other cities Posted On: Jul 30, 2012
The construction work by tourism department at Buddha Theme Park and Lotus Park at Sarnath had not progressed since the last seven months.
An international Buddhist conclave is to be held in Sarnath on September 29 and 30 with Buddhist scholars, devotees, tourists and other delegates arriving to the city.

The only construction found at the site was a half-done auditorium, but the park was supposed to have a multi-purpose hall, boundary walls on all three sides, a library, a cafeteria, an auditorium, a pond, idols of Lord Buddha, small huts and paintings on the boundary walls, attractive landscaping and designing to create a peaceful atmosphere for meditation.

The project was started in September 2009 with a budget of Rs 686.29 lakh on 3.90 acres of land at  Buddha Circuit, and the deadline was December 2010.

It will be a matter of shame for the government, if it fails to finish the construction in time, as around 300 delegates along with scholars, Buddhist societies are expected to attend the conclave.
