Slum habitants oppose multi-storey housing plan
Who does not know Salia Sahi, it is the biggest unauthorized slum in Bhubaneswar, it is now stuck with issues of house planing. Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has sketched a plan to replace the huts with concrete houses in public-private-partnership mode.
The slum dwellers in the city are aggressive against the state government’s proposal in construction of multi-storey houses by demolishing the shanties. Opposing to this decision, hundreds of slum habitants staged a protest with the fear of being rendered homeless.
BDA authorities replied to the slum dwellers saying that they are misled by someone and have become the victims of a misconception regarding this issue. Also, the authority has promised to do fruitful needs to the slum dwellers.
