SORRBA will celebrate Durga puja at Total Mall
SORRBA will be celebrating Durga puja at Total Mall. Last year SORRBA (Sarjapur Outer Ring Road Bengali Association) celebrated Durga Puja in Suncity Apartments-Sarjapur and this year they will be celebrating Durga puja at Total Mall, Sarjapur on October 12 to 17, 2010.
Durga Puja is an annual festival celebrated in India and the greatest festival of Bengal. Durga Puja also referred to as Durgotsab by Bengali is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates worship of the Hindu goddess Durga. It is the most important festival in Bengal, and Bengalis celebrate with new clothes and other gifts, which are worn on the evenings when the family goes out to see the ‘pandals’ (temporary structures set up to venerate the goddess). Durga Puja is celebrated with joy all over India, especially West Bengal in worship of Goddess Durga. In recent years, Bengali communities in different parts of India and all over the world celebrates Durga puja. This shows that not only in India but all over the world it is a widely enjoyed occasion.
The SORRBA was not only founded with the intention of bringing Bengali communities of Bangalore together but also acquainting the people of Bangalore with the rich culture of Bengal through the traditional way of celebrating Bengali festivals. Last year SORRBA celebrated festivals like Saraswati Puja, Holi Utsav, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday etc.
This year Total Mall is also extending a helping hand and taking part in the celebration of the puja with the members of SORRBA. This tie-up is going to set up a new trend in community celebration in Bangalore.
