State government decided to pay all the pending dues BMC
The state owes the civic body Rs 1,06,516 crore in the form of property tax, water tax and others. The dues have accrued over many years. The state government has finally decided to pay all the pending dues to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Manukumar Shrivastav, secretary, urban development (UD) department, had called for a meeting of department officials and the civic body to review the dues and assured the civic officials that the state government will pay the dues very soon.
BMC officials welcomed the government’s decision and said that BMC can start its pending projects, which were put on hold due to financial crunch. The BMC levies taxes on the state government properties within city limits. The dues have accrued over many years.Although repeated reminders were sent to the defaulting government departments, they did not pay the dues.
Finally the state government decided to pay all the pending dues to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) soon.The state owes crores in pending dues which have accrued over many years.
