Tax concessions for cleanliness in Mumbai
In an attempt to garner cooperation from the citizens, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) has come up with the new initiative to offer tax concessions to housing societies, NGOs and Social welfare organizations who keep their area garbage free.
The BMC is to pass a notice of motion in its general body meeting and if approved it could be in operation in coming months.
The plan includes novel initiatives such as societies can avail the services of NGOs to keep the garbage segregated and in return the societies can be benefitted by tax concessions. Moreover, rating system for individuals and organizations is in the pipeline so that their contribution can be appraised.
Shiv Sena, the party which is to press for the motion, are hopeful of successful prospects of the plan. However, there have been questions raised by the skeptics who doubt the feasibility of the proposed endeavor.
