Traffic woes for commuters in Noida
Hundreds of Commuters on the Delhi-Noida-Delhi(DND) toll plaza in Noida were left stranded after the toll booth employees could not deliver the change to people. The jam was resulted reportedly because of a shortage of coins. Recently there was a hike in the road toll. The toll for two-wheelers has been hiked from Rs. 10 to Rs. 11 and for cars the hike was from Rs. 20 to Rs. 22. Long queues of vehicles can be seen stranded for hours together on both sides of the roads.
However the officials of the Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd. (NTBL),the company operating the DND, has refuted the claims that the traffic snarls were due to shortage of coins. They said that the jams were due to Chhat Puja celebrations on the Yamuna banks near Okhla Barrage. They also said that Kalindi Kunj road was blocked due to which the the traffic was diverted towards the DND, which resulted in huge traffic flow during rush hours.
