No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Oct 25, 2011

Residents in Mumbai has taken it on their hands to protect the greens of their community. It was apparent after residents of Lalbaag came out in huge numbers to protect the tree in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had planned to cut a tree on that road. The residents were enraged after BMC-appointed contractor came to their area without prior information.

The BMC has decided to cut the tree on the area to give in way for the entrance of the Meru tower at Chinchpokli. The developer had asked forĀ  the permission of the BMC citing the obstruction. The residents argued that why has the developer not thought of some other options when the plan was developed in the first place, since the tree has stood there for years now. The BMC does publishes such news however such notifications appear in papers which the people rarely read.
